The History of Coventry Hills in Calgary

The city of Calgary has a lot of neighbourhoods - over 200 of them, according to the last census. From the hills and mountain views of the northwest to the new developments and quick-access roadways in the southeast, there's a neigbourhood to suit every taste within the city limits - and that includes the offerings in Coventry Hills, near the city's northern edge.
Coventry Hills Location in Calgary
For thousands of years, the area of what is now Coventry Hills was grassland and brush, used for activities like hunting and trading by the Indigenous peoples who lived there. The late 1800s brought settlers to the newly-built fort at the junction of the Bow and Elbow Rivers, and before long the core of downtown Calgary was growing.
